The Alphawood Foundation of Chicago announced today it will award a major gift of $10 Million to help fund construction of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island. The park is a private-public partnership between New York State, New York City and the private sector. Construction of the park will create 200 jobs for more than two years and deliver an extraordinary new public space in the heart of New York City.

New York – October 15, 2009 – The Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park, LLC is pleased to announce an exhibition on the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park hosted by Steelcase, Inc. in the lobby of their building at 4 Columbus Circle.  The exhibit will run through January 8, 2010, and showcases a history of this park as well as a history of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and architect Louis I. Kahn.

NEW YORK – SEPTEMBER 17, 2009 – District Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau will be honored with the prestigious Franklin Delano Roosevelt Distinguished Public Service Award at a dinner on October 28, 2009 to be held at The Plaza Hotel in Manhattan.   This celebratory dinner will directly benefit the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park.

NEW YORK - June 25, 2009 - The Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park, LLC was granted approval to construct Phase 1 of the Park, designed by the renowned architect Louis I. Kahn, for the south point of the island. Approval was granted at a board meeting of the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC) held today.
